Taking Attendance with Insights

Microsoft Insights control all activities of students in OneNote and in Teams Meetings. Therefore, if all activities are running in these two essential areas of Microsoft 365 Education A3, then a teacher gets a real picture of what is going on in his class.  Insights' total control on the online teaching overpasses the full-time teaching in all aspects. With Insights, taking attendance is easy, see Pic. 8 below.  See more details here.

Pic.1 Press "+" at the tab's list of the Team and click "Insights" or find it in the search field. Follow the instruction.

Pic.2 Take off the Check Mark and press "Save." Students do not have access to "Insights." Therefore, there is no sense to inform them about this tab.

Pic.3 To open "Insights," I press the check mark (see 1). Then I press "Insights" in the drop-down window (see 2).

Pic.4 To get the list of non-active students, I hover the mouse at the place shown at the top. To get a complete list with details, I press the second card.

Pic.5 The system displays the class roaster in the alphabetical order. The advantage of getting the csv Excel file of the class by Teams PowerShell is that your Grade Book as well as the Attendance list class roster is in the same order, which simplifies considerably the work of a teacher. I open the drop down menu to see the activity for an arbitrary period.

Pic.6 To choose the start date, I press 1, and to choose the end date, I press 2. If one clicks the ellipsis (see 3), then she or he can export the data into an Excel file.

Pic.7 To get a detailed view, I press the mark indicated by 3.

Pic.8 The lilac strip indicates the time of the student's attendance (hover mouse on it) of the video meeting (see 1). The empty place as well as the red circle to the left of student's name indicates the absence of this student. You can also get the required information for any student.

Pic.9 The status of assignments is shown here. To change the time interval press the vertical arrow (see 1).

Pic.10 Here is the grades distribution in the class.
