Removing Students From a Team

It looks like a good idea to reuse in a new semester an old team with all materials. The question is how to do this? As I show below, one can do this manually in two steps provided the number of students in the team is not large. In case of a big team, one can follow recommendations given on the following site . I didn't try this, however.

Step 1

I press the ellipsis to the right of the team's name (see 1) and choose "Manage the team" (see 2).

Step 1

I press "Members and guests" (see 1) and then remove members one by one via pressing "x" (see 2 and 3). This way, I can remove all students in this class. It takes up to 5 seconds to reload the page after every removal. Therefore, if the class includes about 70 students, then it does not take it long to finish this process. Unfortunately, all removed students remain in the Class Notebook. The practice of using Class Notebooks assumes that teachers should grade manually all students works. It follows that such teams must have not more than 70 students.

Step 2

It is important that the Class Notebook shows the welcome page. I open the tab "Class Notebook" in Teams (see 1) and click the check mark to the right of "Open in a classical app" (see 2). A new window appears:

Step 2

I right click the name of a student (see 2).

Step 2

I click "Delete" (see above) and confirm the deletion (see the next picture).

Step 2

I delete all required students from the team. After that I press "Files":

Step 2

Step 2

I press the button "View Sync Status."

Step 2

I press the button "Sync Now" and wait when the synchronization is finished.

Step 2

I open the team's Class Notebook and see that there are only  two students in the Class Notebook. When you delete a student from the team and then return him or her back, then their personal Class Notebooks are recovered in the clean state. Therefore, if you have a number of repeating students, it is better to remove all students in the class. The only thing the teacher must do is to delete all assignments.

Step 3

In the "Assignments" tab, I open an assignment (in this case it is a "Mock Exam") .

Step 3

I click the ellipsis and after that click "Edit assignment."

Step 3

I press the "Delete" button

Step 3

and confirm the deletion. I repeat this for every assignment. Remember that when you include the repeating students in your team, then all their assignments return back to the "Assignments" tab. You must repeat the above process again.

Step 4

I open a personal notebook of a student, right click an assignment and press "Delete the page." This step is necessary if you by some reasons left repeating students in the class.

Step 4

I confirm the deletion. These actions are repeated for each student and for each assignments. After that the personal notebook of each student repeating this course becomes clean. If you wish you may delete some announcements in the "Publications" tab.

Step 5

I hover on the mouse to the right upper corner of the message and press the ellipsis. If the delete option is present I can remove this message. Otherwise, it is impossible. This concerns the messages which were distributed through Outlook and system messages such as generated by bots.
