Microsoft Math is available as an app for Teams

A well-known application of Microsoft to smart  phones is now available for Teams. To install it I press "Applications" tab on the left pane of the Teams. Then I enter "Math" in the search field and press the "Math" icon (see 2 below).

In the new window I press the arrow to open available options.

I chose "Add to the team".

The Bot publishes information in the team.

I typeset a formula in LaTeX.

The Bot not only gives the numerical solution, but also expresses this root as an algebraic combination of radicals.

For the second equation the Bot provides a numerical solution, but no algebraic formulas for the root. So, this Bot knows Galois Theory!

To use a more advanced version of the program I open it through "..." on the left pane.

Below I show different tabs of the main program.

The program solves equations. I typeset formulas with a math keyboard.

The system solves a Riccati differential equation:

The program also plots graphs:

The Help tab contains important information.

With "Math" students can solve matrix problems.

I press "Solve":

"Math" and Matrices

I press "Matrices" and then the symbol indicated above.

"Math" and Matrices

The main window shows the empty matrix with the cursor in it. By clicking on arrow 1 one can increase the number of columns. Similarly, the number of rows can be increased by pressing on arrow 2. One should take some care since the rows move up with any click. It is better to keep the cursor at the entry (1, 1).

"Math" and Matrices

This template of a 4x6 matrix was obtained by clicking the right arrow six times and the vertical row four times.

"Math" and Matrices

It is better to enter the values in the matrix entries with the virtual reyboard. Then I press "Solve." The system finds the transpose of this matrix, its determinant if the matrix is square, and its reduced row echelon form otherwise.

"Math" and Matrices

There is a bug which can be easily fixed. It is clear that the evaluation of the reduced row echelon form was not completed. The correct value is shown in red. To correct this bug in practice one can add two rows of zeros to make this matrix square. For square matrices this bug does not appear.

"Math" and Matrices

The characteristic polynomial can be found as follows. I press "Solve."

"Math" and Matrices

The system finds this polynomial and the trace.

"Math" and Matrices

Matrix multiplication with "Math."

This small icon can be used to open application in the team.
